October’s Bright Blue Weather

Finally!  After weeks of summer heat that extended way past its time, then dreary drizzly rain (thank you for that!), we have finally reached what Helen Hunt Jackson immortalized in her wonderful poem– October’s Bright Blue Weather.  I memorized this poem in grade school.  Do kids still do that?  Probably not, what a shame…

Bob planted trees today, one of his favorite fall activities.  (When you drive by our property, realize that when we bought it, there were no trees at all other than the ones along the road.  The land had been stripped.) Some of the trees are outstanding, including the uppermost pin oaks along the driveway, and the glorious Red Sunset Maple in the southwest corner of the property.  We get lots of people who drive by the GC in the fall, and stop in to say, “I want whatever tree that one is down there.”

Enjoy these crisp sunny days, ’cause they won’t last long and winter will be quick to follow!
